Introduction
The Tranz4m program gives you a full understanding
of the science behind our program. We explain in easy to
understand terms just how and why our program works. For
example, a simple grasp of the differences between anabolic
and catabolic processes is key to understanding how a valid
health and fitness program can work for you.
Anabolism versus Catabolism
In the health and fitness industry, a number
of “catchwords” are used interchangeably; such
as metabolism, weight loss, building, breaking down, gaining,
and losing. We are now going to distinguish these terms
and make them simple to understand. Once you are familiar
with the basic health concepts and terms, it will allow
us to dispel a number of myths and help you get the results
you have always wanted.
METABOLISM = ANABOLISM – CATABOLISM
Metabolism is the difference of anabolism
and catabolism. If we compare the body to a structure,
anabolism is the building aspect and catabolism is the
breaking down aspect. Every process and structure in the
body is metabolic. For example, bones in your body are
continuously being broken down and reformed. Muscles, including
proteins are constantly modified and reconstructed to make
the body function to its optimal capacity.
A specific stress in the form of exercise
alters the metabolic state; thus improving the body’s
structure (muscles, bones, ligaments, and tendons) and
function (systems). Our philosophy at Tranz4M is to optimize
the specific stress needed to give you the very best level
of health and fitness.
Therefore to build muscle, you need
to increase the anabolic state of the muscle, while at
the same time decreasing the catabolic state of the muscle.
It is a myth that you have to break down muscle in order
to build it up. You do not have to break down a building
to make it stronger; it is more efficient to positively
add to the existing structure. To get a full and complete
